The last Akarigbo to visit Ikorodu did so in 1939. It was a nostalgic moment for many sons and daughters of Ikorodu and Sagamu who witnessed the epoch-making royal visit, described by many as a re-enactment of history, considering the fact that the last Akarogbo of Remo Land, who paid such visit to Ikorodu was Oba Williams Adedoyin who visited the then Oloja of Ikorodu I939. According to Ikorodu's History, Oga a Prince of Oba Koyelu, the then Akarigbo of Remo Land was the progenitor and founder of Ikorodu town. He was a hunter and farmer.   But, Akarigbo however ceded today's Ikorodu to the Colonial masters

OGUN STATE GOVERNOR, PRINCE DAPO ABIODUN APPOINTS SSG, CHIEF OF STAFF

The Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has approved the appointment of Mr. Olatokunbo Joseph Talabi as the Secretary to the State Government. Also appointed is Alhaji Shuaib Afolabi Salisu as the governor’s Chief of Staff. This was contained in a statement on Saturday signed by Kunle Somorin, Chief Press Secretary to      the Governor. Talabi is said to have a rich private sector background as a business development professional,           banker and entrepreneur. He was until his appointment the Chief Executive Officer of Superflux International Limited, a    market leader in security printing. The 57-year-old holds a 1987 Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of  Lagos. He also trained at the Citibank School of Banking, Long Island, New York. The Akarigbo and paramount ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi has declared that Remo Federal Constituency is lucky to have Otunba Onanuga as her reps member, noting that she was the best candidate to represent the entire Remo Federal Constituency at the House of Reps in Abuja. The revered monarch stated this at the Special Reception and Victory Party organised by Otunba Onanuga at the Akarigbo Palce, Sagamu. Oba Ajayi who personally  graced the auspicious occasion hinted that when he was asked about the quality of the right candidate to represent Remo well at the green chambers, h e replied that he wanted someone with a calm character and eschew violence.     The paramount traditional ruler noted that IJAYA is the best representation Remo deserves at the moment which he believed could turn Remoland to more than a London. FLOOD: MOTORISTS STRANDED FOR HOURS ALONG SAGAMU-IKORODU ROAD

This is not the best of time for motorists and commuters plying the terribly dilapidated Sagamu-Ikorodu road, currently undergoing rehabilitation by the federal government. While the Honourable Minister for Works, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola had warned earlier of some inconveniences that will come as a result of the construction work on the road, what motorists and commuters experienced on the road, on Wednesday, 12 th June was hellish and very avoidable, if Arab Contractors, handling the road project had done the needful. It would be recalled that Mr Fashola directed the contractors to carry out palliative measures on failed portion of the road, to make the road motorable, while the construction work is ongoing, the contractors are yet to fully obey this ministerial directive as many the terribly bad portions of the road, on the Ogun State axis, by NNPC Mosimi depot has gone from bad to worse in recent times.   The Likosi and Arigbabuwo area of the road is the worst
