10 REASONS WHY OGUN STATE AND REMO ELECTORATES WILL REJECT AMOSUN’S GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE, ABDULKADIR AKINLADE ON MARCH 9
The national assembly election
has just been concluded, with shocking results across the country. Many politicians
once believed to be political heavyweights have fallen, they include the
incumbent Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Oyo State governor, Abiola
Ajimobi among others.
Here in Ogun State, none of
the candidates of the incumbent governor, Ibikunle Amosun’s APM won any seat at
the Senate and House of Representatives. One of the main causality of this
shocker is the incumbent majority leader of Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon
Yinka Mafe, who came a dist
ant third in the Remo federal constituency election.
Others include Hon Mikky, Hon Segun Gbeleyi.
Going by the result of the
national assembly elections and few days to the forthcoming governorship
election, there are strong indications that Ogun State electorates will further
reject Governor Ibikunle Amosun and his anointed candidate, APM’s Abdul-Kadir
Akinlade.
1- Amosun unilaterally imposed Akinlade on the then APC and the entire Ogun West zone as
consensus candidate in 2018
2- Lack of concrete developmental blueprint by
Amosun’s government, making many see Akinlade’s campaign focus of ‘Sustained
Mission to Rebuild’as a farce
3- Many believed
that Akinlade, as governor will be a stooge, controlled by Amosun
4- Massive
loss of APM candidates at the just concluded national assembly elections
5- Many Ogun State residents see Governor
Amosun’s style of politics as overbearing and emperor-like, hence unacceptable in a democratic setting
6- Non-remittance
of civil servant’s pension deductions under Amosun’s administration
7- Perceived
insincerity of Amosun by many of his supporters who believe the governor
deceived them into decamping to APM while he remained in APC, on whose platform
he won the Ogun Central senatorial seat last Saturday
8- Lack
of motivation by many APM members and supporters whose candidates lost last Saturday’s
elections
9- Lack
of cohesion by Ogun West leaders who see Amosun as playing games with his
choice of Akinlade
1- Sectional
development of Ogun Central, particularly Abeokuta by Amosun above other zones
of the State
