APC NWC SUSPENDS AMOSUN, OKOROCHA, RECOMMENDS THEM FOR EXPULSION
The national working committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC has
suspended Ogun State governor, Ibikunle
Amosun and his Imo State counterpart, Rochas Okorocha for what it termed anti-party
activities by the two governors, who are also Senators-Elect on the platform of
the party.
The NWC has also recommended the expulsion of the two governors from the
party to the NEC for ratification.
The decisions were taken at the NWC meeting on Friday, 1st March in Abuja,
where allegations of anti-party activities were leveled against the governors.
Amosun and Okorocha were elected on the platform of APC but the two of them
are backing other governorship candidates from other political parties, against
their party's candidates for the March 9 governorship poll.
It would be recalled that Govs Amosun and Okorocha have been at loggerheads
with the party's leadership over the party's primaries, which saw the emergence
of governorship candidates other than their preferred choices.
The last straw for Amosun was the disruption of APC presidential rally allegedly
by thugs loyal to the governor and his adopted party, APM.
At the rally both the President, Muhammed Buhari and APC national chairman,
Adams Oshiomole and other party leaders were pelted with stones and sachet pure
water while Buhari presented APC gubernatorial candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun
to party supporters.
