ACCOLADES AS GOV. DAPO ABIODUN COMMISSIONS SAGAMU NIS PASSPORT OFFICE, DONATED BY SAGAMU COMMUNITY

The Executive Governor of Ogun State,
Prince Dapo Abiodun , Akarigbo of Remo land, HRM Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi
and Sagamu-Remo stakeholders have applauded the Comptroller General of the
Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS Col. Muhammed Alli (Rtd) for the commissioning
of the Sagamu Passport Office to serve the needs of residents who had been
travelling as far as Lagos and Abeokuta before they can process their passport
and other travelling documents. They also lauded the Sagamu Remo community for
donating the office complex.
The Executive Governor of Ogun State,
Prince Dapo Abiodun commissioned the passport office to the excitements of
dignitaries and stakeholders across Remo Land and Ogun State in general. The
official commissioning on Wednesday, 3rd July is the climax of years and months
of collaborations and positive engagements between Sagamu community and the
Nigerian Immigration Service.
Speaking on behalf of the Executive
Governor of Ogun State Governor, at the Olootu Omo’ba Michael Oyedele Avenue
GRA Shagamu, the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr (Mrs) Noimot
Salako-Oyedele commended the Nigerian Immigration Service for bringing its
services, which has hitherto being concentrated at the State capital in
Abeokuta closer to the good people of Remo Land.
'While I commend the initiators of
this laudable project, I want to also commend the Management of the Nigerian
Immigration Service, under the able leadership of Col. Muhammed Alli for making
this happen. I hereby implore all Remo Sons, daughters and indeed residents and
good people of Ogun State in general to take advantage of the proximity of the
Sagamu passport office to process and obtain their international passport and
other sundry immigration services', she said.
Also, the Comptroller General of the
Nigerian Immigration Service, Col Mahmud Alli (Rtd),
who was represented by the Assistant Comptroller General, ACG Mohammed Sanni Harande, listed various logistics and facilities support the NIS got, from the Ogun State Government and the good people of Sagamu community. He therefore thanked the people of Ogun State for the enormous support. He also assured the mammoth crowd that the NIS will continue its services promptly, transparently and competently, while admonishing admonishing that the new passport office should be well patronized.

In his remarks, the Akarigbo and
paramount ruler of Remo Land, Oba Babatunde AdewaleAjayi also poured encomiums
on the Nigerian Immigration Service for giving the community’s request favourable
consideration and for collaborating with Sagamu community towards timely
completion and commissioning of the Sagamu passport office.

The monarch also commended a former
governor of the State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel for his foresight in the
construction of the building, earlier earmarked for the Power Holding Company
of Nigeria Sagamu before it was privatized. Oba Ajayi equally commended the
Remo Growth and Development Foundation (Remo GDF), for providing the logistics
and financial support needed to make the passport office project a success.
An elated Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi
proudly announced that the successful initiative, construction and formal
commissioning of the passport office were made possible through community
efforts. He added that not a single kobo from the government, at all levels was
included in the cost of putting up the beautiful and befitting office complex.

Odusote, a Remo indigene expressed gratitude to the good people of Sagamu
community, the Remo GDF and in
particular, Olootu Michael Oyedele,
Chairman Royal Initiative for the Development of Sagamu Community (RIDSCO) for
his relentless efforts towards the successful completion of the project.
She also commended the Remo GDF for
providing the transformer for the office and one Mike Okolo who volunteered to
beautify the passport office by planting flowers around the building for free.
