2019 SAGAMU DAY CELEBRATION: MAKE ORISAGAMU EWA GROOVE AN INT'L TOURIST CENTRE AND GIVE US AKARIGBO PALACE PAVILION, SDA CHAIRMAN, PROF. TUNDE OGUNSANWO TASK GOV DAPO ABIODUN

The good people of Sagamu Remo in Ogun State have asked the governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun to make the Orisagamu-Ewa groove located in the community into an international tourist attraction centre.

Making the demand on behalf of Sagamu people was the President, Sagamu Development Association, Aare Prof Tunde Ogunsanwo at the grand rally of the 35th Sagqmu Day celebration held at the expansive Akarigbo palace open filed in Sagamu.

'Your Excelkency, the mystical sgream, Eri Sagamu, upon which Sagamu town was founded, is located in a large hectarage of very flora and fauna. Our dreams over the years. is to have this historical site turned into an international tourist centre. Legend attests to the healing powers of the water from this stream from time immemorial to present day. Our prayer is that, under your progressive leadership in the State,  this feat will be accomplished to compliment similar ones like the Olumo Rock in Abeokuta and Bilikisu Sungbo Shrine in Ijebu Land', Prof Ogunsanwo noted.

Ogunsanwo also demanded, on behalf of the good people of Sagamu community the building of a befitting Akarigbo Palace Arcade and Pavilion to serve as an outdoor facility for hosting major public events like the Sagamu Day celebration,  which has been held under the canopy in the past years.

Justifying his demand, Ogunsanwo stressed that, 'Your Excellency,  it is our desire to have a befitting Akarigbo Palace Pavilion.  It is interesting to note, Your Excellency,  that the Chairman of today's occasion,  who is sitting right next to you, His Excellency,  Otunba Gbenga Daniel, superintendend over the construction of similar edifice in Ijebu Ode while in office at Oke-Mosan as the governor.  Similarly, your predecessor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun ensured the provision of a similar arena in Abeokuta during his tenure', he noted.

The grand rally of the 2019 Sagamu Day celebration featured cultural displays from various cultural groups and masquerades, homage by the local age grade groups, otherwise known as 'regberegbes' among other presentations.

The event was graced by the who-is-whos across Sagamu and Remo Land in general.

Distinguished guests at the event include the Executive Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, a former governor of the State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Hon. Otunba Oriyomi Onanuga, representing Remo Federal Constituency and Hon Segun Shitta and Hon Demola Adeniran, State legislatures, reprsenting Sagamu Constituency 1 and 2 at the Ogun State House of Assembly.

Others were, Hon Ladi Adebutu, Dr Doyin Okupe, Aremo Taiwo Alimi, Otunba Yinka Lawal-Solarin, Hon Funmilayo Afuwape, Hon Kolade Segun-Okeowo, Omo'ba 'Peju Akinyemi and Ambassador Tokunbo Soluade, a UK based Sagamite.

HISTORY AS AKARIGBO OF REMO LAND, OBA BABATUNDE ADEWALE AJAYI INSTALLS PRINCE DR OLUKOYA ADEDOYIN AS THE OTUNBA OLOORE OF ANOKO RULING HOUSE SAGAMU

History was recorded on Thursday, 21 st November, 2019 at the Ita Oba Akarigbo, Sagamu as the Akarigbo of Remo Land, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi installs Prince Dr Olukoya Adedoyin as the Otunba Oloore of Anoko ruling house of Sagamu. The historic event was witnessed by Princes and Princesses from the Anoko-Ogbonyari ruling house of Akarigbo Remo Land at home and in Diaspora who turned up in their large number to support and identify with the new Otunba Oloore. The event commenced as early as 8am in the morning with special prayers- iwure and rites at the Anoko ruling house palace. The procession later moved to the Otunba Mojo Palace, where all the Akarigbo Ruling Houses in Sagamu hold their regular meetings. Prayers and rites were also performed there before moving to the Akarigbo Palace for the formal installation rites. MANNA MINISTRIES HOST 7TH EDITION OF INDEPENDENCE DAY YOUTH EMPOWERMENT CONFERENCE

The Manna Ministries Int'l, a Sagamu Ogun State based Christian organization recently held the 7th edition of her Independence Youth Empowerment program (IYE) 2019 themed Ideas Rule the World. The annual summit which is organized by its NGO arm, Human Development & Capacity Building Initiative came up on between 29th-1st October, 2019. The first 2 days featured training of youths in diverse areas, which includes vocational training (laundry & dry cleaning, snail farming, cakes and  pastery), Information Technology (Website development and blogging) and social media marketing. There was also a concert for the youth at the event hall of the Akarigbo palace, Ita Oba, Sagamu.
