MANNA MINISTRIES HOST 7TH EDITION OF INDEPENDENCE DAY YOUTH EMPOWERMENT CONFERENCE
The Manna
Ministries Int'l, a Sagamu Ogun State based Christian organization recently
held the 7th edition of her Independence Youth Empowerment program (IYE) 2019
themed Ideas Rule the World.
The annual
summit which is organized by its NGO arm, Human Development & Capacity
Building Initiative came up on between 29th-1st October, 2019. The first 2 days
featured training of youths in diverse areas, which includes vocational
training (laundry & dry cleaning, snail farming, cakes and pastery),
Information Technology (Website development and blogging) and social media
marketing.
There
was also a concert for the youth at the event hall of the Akarigbo palace, Ita
Oba, Sagamu.
Addressing
the participants, Convener of the event, Pastor Bimbo & Adeola Olaniyan noted
that “Remo people are people with a lot of great ideas. Our history has continued to define the kind
of supply we can provide as a nation.
The personalities that we share with this great country are not ordinary
people for example YemiOsinbajo (the Vice President of Nigeria), Prince
DapoAbiodun(Governor of Ogun State), Prof. Emeritus T.O. Ogunlesi, Prof. Wole
Soyinka, Asiwaju S.K. Onafowokan, Chief KensingtonAdebutu, Mr. Adebayo O.
Ogunlesi(CEO, Gatwick & Edinburgh Airports, London), Mr. Anthony Joshua,
Mr. SeniAdetu (of Guinness, Nigeria), Late Chief ObafemiAwolowo, etc., are all
from Remoland. We are people of great minds and great intellects with great
character that have supplied consistently, a very big proof that something qualitative
is resident in our space called Remoland, and we have not shied away in playing
our role in nation building”.
“Moreover,
it is important to observe the rapid expansion and development of Sagamu in the
last 10years which bears eloquent testimony of a business boom now being
fulfilled. Big industries such as the Nestle, Emzor Pharmaceuticals,
International Breweries, Honey Well, Apple and Pears, CDK, SMC (Standard
Metallurgical Company), Coleman Wires & Cables, etc. are now located in Remoland,
Ogun State, Nigeria. Hence, there is a need to prepare Remo communities and
equip them with the necessary skills – mentally, physically, emotionally,
psychologically and spiritually - to maximize this great opportunity”, she
added.
Speaking
further, she remarked that the annual Independence Youth Empowerment is meant to
raise productive, creative and positively active youths so as to bring out the
glory of Remo kingdom because Remo is at the verge of experiencing economic
breakthrough, the destiny given to her by the creator from the beginning.
It is
also an avenue for inspiring our youths toward the diverse privileges of
economic empowerments in their various environments and to take responsibility
toward nation building and transformation. This is based on our experience
spanning over (10 years) and concerns for the peace, progress and development
of Remo towns. Initiated at this point, is a manifestation of our patriotic
contribution as stakeholders.
In her
words, ‘the cardinal aim of every independent youth empowerment is to equip the
youths to develop the power to think clearly, correctly, accurately and
scientifically which is the greatest of all the power that an individual can possess.
‘According
to Haddack, “The power to think constructively, deeply and clearly, is an
avowed and deadly enemy to mistake and blunders, superstitions, unscientific
theories and irrational fanaticism.”The fact remains that stubborn and
indestructible poverty, disease, social unrest and instability, and all kinds
of local, communal, national or international conflicts have their origins in
the minds of men’, she concluded.
