The Akarigbo and Paramount ruler of Remo Land, Oba Babatunde
Adewale Ajayi has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the
development of the entire Remo Division of Ogun State.
Oba Ajayi who ascended the
throne in 2017, barely two years ago had introduced several developmental
initiatives, aimed at positioning Remo Land as the destination of choice in
Ogun State.
One of these is the
establishment of Remo Growth and Development Foundation otherwise known as Remo
GDF, which is meant to be the driving force for the development of Remo Land.
The group was instrumental to the opening of Nigerian Passport Office and the
Alternative Dispute Resolution Court House in Sagamu, Setting up of the Akarigbo
Corporate Council and the on-going renovation of the Remo GDF Secretariat at
Iperu.
At the Dinner, attended by
distinguished Remo sons and daughters, based in Lagos, Oba Ajayi reiterated his
commitment to the development of Remo Land, noting that, it was the main reason he
accepted the offer to become the Akarigbo of Remo Land.
‘I have never dreamt of becoming an Oba, talkless of Akarigbo of
Remo Land. Though, as a human being, my love for my people, my love for Remo
and my love to help people has always been there. Those who were my school mates
at Remo Secondary School can attest to this fact. I am just passionate about the
development of Remo Land and this had nothing to do with any aspiration’, he
said.
‘When we wanted to start a business in the area of hospitality,
and I chose Sagamu, some people told me to consider Ikoyi or Ikeja in Lagos, as
these are good locations that promises great returns on investments. But, my
immediate response was, how many choice hotels do we have in Sagamu that we can
proudly boast of. The rest, as they say is now history’, Oba Ajayi added.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Chairman Remo Growth and
Development Foundation, Otunba Tunji Lawal-Solarin also appealed to Remo sons
and daughters in attendance, to subscribe to the developmental visions of the
Akarigbo, through Remo GDF.
Co-Chairman of Remo GDF, Aare Kola Oyefeso equally intimated the guests
on some giant strides that have been undertaken by the organization in less
than two years of its existence and how these initiatives have given Remo Land a
better rating among other divisions in Ogun State.
Giving a preview into its 2020 programmes, Otunba Seni Adetu called
on distinguished Remo sons and daughters at home and in dispora to support the
Remo GDF 2020 development agenda, which includes Remo Economic Summit, Remo
Trade Expo and Remo Endowment Fund, among others.
