ROYAL TRIBUTE TO AN EXEMPLARY MONARCH: AKARIGBO OF REMO LAND, OBA BABATUNDE ADEWALE AJAYI’ S SECOND YEAR CORONATION ANNIVERSARY

The entire Sagamu, and indeed Remo Land, shook to its foundation following the formal announcement of the demise of Oba Michael Adeniyi Sonariwo (Erinjugbo 2) Akarigbo of Remo Land in 2016.

Sequel to the performance of all necessary traditional rites and completion of the statutory / traditional mourning period, the questions on the lips of many concerned Sagamu and Remo citizens was who is fit to step into the big shoe and effectively occupy the throne of the Akarigbo of Remo Land.

The fears and concerns being raised were not unfounded. This is, considering the leadership role, influence and responsibility that lie on the throne of the Akarigbo of Remo Land- a First Class Monarch and Paramount Ruler of Remo’s 33 traditional towns and communities.

Nineteen (19) distinguished and eminently qualified Princes from the Torungbuwa Ruling House threw their hats into the ring for what has gone down in history as one of the most keenly contested election into the Akarigbo stool. Kingmakers were thorough in the selection process and an unassuming Prince Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, a Lawyer, Chartered Accountant and Certified Turnaround Professional was chosen as the Akarigbo-Elect for Remo Land. To say the entire Remo Land burst into instant jubilation and celebration is stating the obvious!

What followed was an unprecedented weeks of carnival and celebration at the Ipebi Akarigbo where then Akarigbo-Elect observed his mandatory traditional seclusion, before Akarigbo Palace, popularly called Ita Oba. Sagamu received thousands of who-is-who’s across the entire Ogun State and beyond who came to pay homage and catch a glimpse of the new Akarigbo of Remo Land.

If indeed,history was made in Remo Land on 7th December, 2017, with the formal coronation of a handsome, passionate, well-read and widely travelled Remo Prince, Prince Babatunde Adewale Ajayi from the Torungbuwa Ruling House of Akarigbo Remo Land, the landmark achievements and unprecedented peace, progress and unity  that Remo Land has witnessed within the last two years reign of Oba Ajayi is much more historic.

Within two years on the throne, Oba Ajayi has succeeded in redefining Royalty with his humility, unique midas touch; unprecedented strides and out-of-the-box development initiatives.

Some of Oba Ajayi's landmark achievements include the followings, among others;

HISTORY AS AKARIGBO OF REMO LAND, OBA BABATUNDE ADEWALE AJAYI INSTALLS PRINCE DR OLUKOYA ADEDOYIN AS THE OTUNBA OLOORE OF ANOKO RULING HOUSE SAGAMU

History was recorded on Thursday, 21 st November, 2019 at the Ita Oba Akarigbo, Sagamu as the Akarigbo of Remo Land, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi installs Prince Dr Olukoya Adedoyin as the Otunba Oloore of Anoko ruling house of Sagamu. The historic event was witnessed by Princes and Princesses from the Anoko-Ogbonyari ruling house of Akarigbo Remo Land at home and in Diaspora who turned up in their large number to support and identify with the new Otunba Oloore. The event commenced as early as 8am in the morning with special prayers- iwure and rites at the Anoko ruling house palace. The procession later moved to the Otunba Mojo Palace, where all the Akarigbo Ruling Houses in Sagamu hold their regular meetings. Prayers and rites were also performed there before moving to the Akarigbo Palace for the formal installation rites. MANNA MINISTRIES HOST 7TH EDITION OF INDEPENDENCE DAY YOUTH EMPOWERMENT CONFERENCE

The Manna Ministries Int'l, a Sagamu Ogun State based Christian organization recently held the 7th edition of her Independence Youth Empowerment program (IYE) 2019 themed Ideas Rule the World. The annual summit which is organized by its NGO arm, Human Development & Capacity Building Initiative came up on between 29th-1st October, 2019. The first 2 days featured training of youths in diverse areas, which includes vocational training (laundry & dry cleaning, snail farming, cakes and  pastery), Information Technology (Website development and blogging) and social media marketing.
