APM ENDORSEMENT: YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN, ADEBUTU’S FATHER, PDP AND REMO STAKEHOLDERS TELL HON LADI ADEBUTU

Image
Yesterday’s endorsement of APM governorship candidate in Ogun State, Hon Abdul Kabir Akinlade by Hon Ladi Adebutu may have been dead on arrival. This is due to the series of negative reactions that have trailed the endorsement of Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s favoured party, APM and its candidate, Abdul Kabir Akinlade by Hon Ladi Adebutu, member House of Reps, Remo Federal Constituency and a factional PDP governorship candidate in the State. While a similar endorsement of APC candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun by a former governor of the State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has been applauded by stakeholders across the State, particularly in Remo Land, negative reactions have continued to trail the endorsement of APM’s Akinlade by Hon Ladi Adebutu. The first rebuttal that followed the news, which first broke on social media was from the Ogun State PDP Youths who described Adebutu’s endorsement of Akinlade as disappointing and self-serving. OGUN GUBER: NIGERIA’S VICE PRESIEDENT, PROF YEMI OSHINABJO, TWO FORMER GOVERNORS, OTHERS UNITE AGAINST AMOSUN’S APM

Image
Few hours to the 2019 governorship and houses of assembly elections in Nigeria, many odds seems to be gathering against the desire of the incumbent governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun to install his adopted APM candidate, Abdul Kabir as the next governor of Ogun State. At the last count, about six political heavy weights across Ogun State have jettisoned party interests and personal ambition in what has been described as a strategic effort to liberate Ogun State from Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s undemocratic and dictatorial tendencies. Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor Yemi Oshinbajo, from Ikenne Remo Ogun State is leading a major political onslaught against Governor Ibikunle Amosun and his newly adopted party, APM. Oshinbajo has not hidden his support for APC’s candidate, Dapo Abiodun as he has led the campaign tour of the APC candidate across major wards and local governments of Ogun State, in recent times. Similarly, two former governors of Ogun State, Egba bor

Image
While the incumbent of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun is currently having a running battle with labour leaders in the State over backlog of unpaid salaries, non-remittance of pension and cooperative deductions and other anti-labour policies, the APC governorship candidate for Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has presented a 12-point agenda to the leadership of NLC in the State. Abiodun’s pact with labour, which many has adjudged as a clear demonstration of his understanding of the economy and labour matters  in a letter personally signed by the APC candidate  and addressed to the Chairman, Nigerian Labour Congress, Ogun State. In the letter, he said, ‘There is no gainsaying that ‘labour creates wealth’. In all humility, as a successful entrepreneur, I can attest from personal experience that labour is not only an important factor of production, it is actually the heart of production’. The letter reads further, ‘I am a staunch b

AMOSUN’S THREAT TO WORKERS IS AN IRRESPONSIBLE STATEMENT, NLC PRESIDENT, COM AYUBA WABBA

Speaking to newsmen on the development, Wabba noted that it was important to remind the governor that he was elected into office by the same workers whose lives he is now threatening. The labour leader however vowed that labour would not be deterred nor discouraged by Amosun’s threats to its lives and that of its members, promising that he and his men will rely on God Almighty and its members for protection during today’s protest in the State. Labour is protesting the non-payment of 15 months workers salary, non-remittance of pension fund contributions and non-payment of workers cooperative deductions among many other anti-labour policy of the Ibikunle Amosun-led government of Ogun State.

The national working committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC has suspended Ogun State governor,   Ibikunle Amosun and his Imo State counterpart, Rochas Okorocha for what it termed anti-party activities by the two governors, who are also Senators-Elect on the platform of the party. The NWC has also recommended the expulsion of the two governors from the party to the NEC for ratification. The decisions were taken at the NWC meeting on Friday, 1st March in Abuja, where allegations of anti-party activities were leveled against the governors. Amosun and Okorocha were elected on the platform of APC but the two of them are backing other governorship candidates from other political parties, against their party's candidates for the March 9 governorship poll. It would be recalled that Govs Amosun and Okorocha have been at loggerheads with the party's leadership over the party's primaries, which saw the emergence of governorship candidates other than their
